My Buddy Bix

Leon "Bix" Beiderbecke, pictured here holding his cornet, was a close friend of Hoagy's while the two attended IU. Bix was a gifted cornetist who shared Hoagy's love of ragtime and hot jazz and played with Hoagy in a variety of bands. Hoagy named his oldest son Hoagy Bix after his friend.
