Behind the southern side of Seven Steeples is the Pathology Building. The Progressive Era changed asylum architecture and planning: Dr. Thomas Kirkbride designed hospitals that were calming and afforded more fresh air and light to the patients’ rooms, as seen by the staggered wing formation.
