Crowds flocked to the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument to celebrate “unconfirmed peace” on November 7th, 1918. The official armistice would come on November 11th. Throughout World War I and its aftermath, Monument Circle was the site of parades and celebrations in support of the American Expeditionary Force.
