Pavilions at Fort Harrison

Fort Harrison was commissioned in 1811 by General William Henry Harrison. Captain Zachary Taylor was in command in September, 1812 when the siege of the fort took place. The fort held, resulting in the first American land victory of the War of 1812. The fort was thereafter known as the fort of two presidents, both Harrison and Taylor. These pavilions were constructed to serve as a scenic feature for incoming boats and sightseers.
