This postcard is one of several that were printed to help Gary sell the city to outsiders by promoting its building and landmarks. These apartments also represent a time in Gary’s history, during the 1920s through 1930, when Gary’s population doubled from 55,000 to over 100,000 and the demand for housing was great so Gary responded with the rapid construction of these apartments.
