Open in 1926, this church was another anchor in the area, located south of the library and east of the 5th Avenue apartments. The Methodist Episcopal Church, known as the City Church, hoped to appeal to people visiting downtown. It was designed in the Gothic style and also included an attached building used for social and educational events and programs. Vacant for many years, the crumbling building now attracts preservationists and photographers and has been featured in several motion pictures.
