Delaware Hotel

Completed in 1907, the Delaware Hotel, at 5th Avenue and Delaware Street on the East Side of Gary, was primarily a boarding house that charged $1.50 a day, or about $6.00-$7.00 per week, around 1910. At the same time, “meal tickets” cost $5.00. Rooms here were mostly rented by single male mill workers.
