In its first year, Uncle Tom’s Cabin sold 300,000 copies. By 1857, two million copies had sold worldwide. When the story was first published as installments, Stowe was paid $300. With the success of her book, Stowe earned thousands in royalty payments. This title page comes from an edition that was printed in 1904.
