Courthouse Illustration

This illustration by Hanson Booth was published in the history textbook The Development of America by Fremont P. Wirth (American Book Company, Boston, 1936).  While it is not an exact image of the Noblesville square, the courthouse is clearly recognizable in the drawing.  As a small boy, Booth would have seen torchlight parades like this in Noblesville.  However, because Hamilton County was strongly Republican and pro-Benjamin Harrison in 1892, it’s unlikely that there would have been a pro-Cleveland banner hanging over the street.
