Martha, Hoagy, and Georgia Carmichael Outside House on Washington Avenue

While Hoagy was in college in the 20s, he lived with his family at 525 S. Washington Street. Hoagy claimed that this house was where his famous tune "Star Dust" was first born. In this photograph, Hoagy is pictured at the side of the house with his two younger sisters Martha and Georgia. Georgia was the subject of his song "Georgia" made popular by Ray Charles and now the official song of the state of Georgia.
