War Memorial Plaza

You are standing at one end of the five-block Indiana World War Memorial Plaza. Surrounding you are monuments dedicated at different times and places to the wars Indiana and American soldiers participated in, including members of the LGBT+ community. Creation of the plaza began in 1920 with the World War Memorial and ended in 1996-98 with the construction of the Korean, Vietnam, and World War II Memorials. The Indiana World War Memorial Plaza was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1989 and named a National Historic Landmark in 1994. Each June, the Memorial Plaza hosts the Indy Pride Festival.
